Buffalo Trident
Founded in Melbourne, Australia, 35 years ago by one of the countries leading refrigeration engineers; Buffalo Trident Refrigeration began research into superior quality air heat exchangers for the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Industry.

Buffalo Trident began production of its own high efficiency, superior heat exchangers in 1976. By 1987 the demand for the company’s heat exchange products was so high that it became the prime focus of the company’s activities.

Growth came even more quickly after the company’s decision to focus its energy on high volume production with streamlined techniques introduced to expedite delivery of what was now the premier Australian made heat exchangers.

By 1992, Buffalo Trident had become the major supplier of heat exchangers in Australia and was purchased by Bitzer International to support its growing market share and local production of value added compressor systems.

A newly formed organization commenced trading as Bitzer Australia Pty. Ltd. which incorporated the highly successful Buffalo Trident heat exchange manufacturing company. Research and development into uniquely Australian made refrigeration equipment remained the cornerstone of the new company and highly equipped R&D divisions were established in its two factories in Melbourne and Sydney.

It soon became clear to the new company that increased sales, marketing and distribution activities were needed to support the factories products and customer demands and in 1993, the company opened a Queensland sales and engineering support branch. 1994 saw a sales and engineering branch opened in Adelaide also.

Further rapid expansion was achieved by the company and in 1996 the Buffalo Trident manufacturing facility was relocated to a purpose built facility in Sunshine, an outer Melbourne Industrial complex with a floor area of 10,000 square meters floor area.

1996 also saw Bitzer Australia Pty. Ltd. commence an export venture with Indonesia to gain sales access to the Asian region further expanding the company’s successes.

In 1997, the distribution and product support network was completed with an office opened in Perth, Western Australia. Over the next several years, the company grew to be the largest manufacturer of Refrigeration and Air conditioning equipment in Australia.

Greater systems quality controls instigated in 2001 saw the company’s two manufacturing facilities gain the standards seal for Quality Assurance under ISO9001 Certification.

By 2005, the company was firmly established as an International market leader in new refrigerant technology systems using CO2 refrigerant, with the establishment of a Technology Centre in its Sydney manufacturing facility. The centre is used for training purposes and special project engineering and testing to ensure the highest possible levels of technology and quality are achieved.

The high reputation and success enjoyed by the company, is based on our staff’s dedication and a clear understanding of the need for innovative products in a highly competitive engineering discipline.

“I am confident to say today, that Bitzer Australia Pty. Ltd. incorporating Buffalo Trident heat exchange equipment produce the highest quality refrigeration products, supported by the best Engineering and Management team in Australia.”

Mr, Ruediger Rudischhauser, Managing Director, Bitzer Australia Pty. Ltd.
